Flat Ridge 4 & 5 Wind
Energy Center
The Flat Ridge 4 and Flat Ridge 5 Wind Energy Center is a 284-megawatt (MW) wind power generation facility in Harper and Kingman Counties, Kansas targeted to begin operating in 2025.
The project is located southeast of Spivey, Kansas in Harper and Kingman Counties. The project map can be found here.
The Flat Ridge Wind Energy Center will employ up to 200 workers during construction and is expected to create up to 20 permanent operations and maintenance (O&M) jobs.
More than $100 million will be invested in local tax revenue, landowner payments, and wages and benefits over the estimated 30-year life of the project. Wind power provides a new and significant source of income for landowners. Lease payments provide a steady stream of income, providing a welcome hedge against fluctuations in commodity markets. Harper and Kingman Counties will also receive annual payments throughout the life of the project. For the first 10 years of operations, Invenergy will make payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT) to each county. From year 11 through the life of the project, Invenergy will pay full-freight property taxes.
